What’s the impact of Hong Kong’s protests on the travel market?
The warnings from several Asian countries about travelling to Hong Kong have already seen a clear impact on the travel market. Flight bookings to Hong Kong from Asian markets have fallen by 20.2% on the equivalent period last year. The recent wave of pro-democracy demonstrations in Hong Kong, culminating in the closure of the airport on Monday, has led to deterring people from making plans to visit the city.
In the meantime we are getting closer to the National Day Golden Week. As a result, many Chinese travellers are booking their trips to different long-haul destinations. However, not every destination gets the same share of travellers.
During our next webinar on China Outbound Tourism we will dig into the effects of the Hong Kong crisis on the travel market. We will also provide a forecast on the travel trends on Chinese travellers during the National Day Golden Week in China. This means that you will get a clear understanding on what the Chinese Outbound tourism trends look like during the recent and upcoming events.
